A ‘loving’ dog who spent half his life in a shelter received a Christmas miracle

A “sweet” rescue dog, who spent almost half his life in an animal shelter, finally met his Christmas miracle.

Two-year-old Coffee was adopted from the Montgomery County Animal Shelter in Conroe, Texas on Dec. 3 after spending months in shelter care while waiting for his forever family to arrive.

The rescue shelter decided to turn Coffee’s plight into Facebook fast, which can seen here, November 29. The “cute” dog managed to steal the hearts of many netizens, making the post go viral. It was distributed more than 140 times and, to the shelter’s joy, Coffee was adopted in a few days.

The post read: “Coffee only has one item on its Santa wish list and that’s family.”

“Coffee is an adorable fur ball who was a former resident at our shelter but has since found his forever home,” said Aaron Johnson, director of the Montgomery County Animal Shelter. Newsweek.

“Kava, a bundle of energy and joy, walked into our lives as a stray on November 1st. He was picked up by one of our animal control officers. One of our volunteers, Victoria, says Kava was truly exceptional, well-behaved, full of loving, smooth, dear, great with children, playful dog. He is also friendly towards strangers.

“He was at the shelter for months and I don’t understand how he was neglected all this time. It’s a mystery how such a gem was neglected for months at the shelter. Despite the brief setback in his journey, the coffee continued to win everyone over with his wonderful behavior.”

Volunteer Victoria formed a close relationship with Coffee while he lived in Montgomery County. She took him outside the shelter “a few times” for walks and to adoption events with other dogs and puppies.

Johnson said Newsweek that staff members see their work not only as a responsibility, but also as a deep-rooted passion.

“We are a dedicated team of professionals who work diligently every day, until every tail is wagging with joy,” he said.

“This year has certainly presented some challenges for animal welfare organizations across the country. We have seen a slight increase in the length of stay of dogs in our shelters, which naturally extends the period of care for each pet. However, we come across inspiring stories like the one about coffee.”
